Beginning in 2003, the Züst estate's 10,400 books were classified by Plinio Bachmann and inventoried by Christine Koch with the ambition to give form to the late artist's library. In 2010, through the project Von Andreas bis Züst (2009/10), the Bibliothek Andreas Züst was established at Alpenhof, the cultural platform and hostel located in St. Anton, Oberegg/AI. Soon followed the projects A book by night (2012) and Technique & Sentiment (2012/13). In 2014, the Bibliothek Andreas Züst became an official off-site location of the Kantonsbibliothek Appenzell Ausserrhoden. In 2014/15 the recatalogisation of the total stock was conducted and a full integration of this Data in the St. Galler Bibliotheksnetz completed.
Since 2016 an expansion of the art mediation programme offered by the Bibliothek Andreas Züst is taking place. This has included the redesign of of the website (in collaboration with Studio NOI), the re-launch of the workshop series (in collaboration with Annett Höland and Simone Koller) and the development of a mediation program for schools in the area (in cooperation with Christoph Elias Meier). In addition, the library has initiated an international residency program (in collaboration with Marilin Brun) which envisages three individuals or teams invited twice a year to live and work at the Alpenhof premises.
